Unusual Love Story

At the age of 17, I choose my life partner, who was my mom's student.

I went ahead in the relationship as I received a lot of encouragement from my mom.

Living in India and he belonging to another religion, I knew I had lots to face in the near future.

I was ready for it as I did not want to go in for an arranged marriage.

A year later my hubby got a job in another part of India so he had to fly.

Maintaining a long distance relationship is too hard. I then realized that it was taking a toll on both of us.

There were lots of communication gaps which led to unwanted arguments, as our relationship was too vulnerable at that point of time.

To sustain my relationship with my boyfriend I had to do something different.

The age old method of writing letters worked for us as we could express ourselves in a better fashion.

Since he stayed in a place which was about 1000 miles from my city, I and my mom would go and visit him once in 6 months...

...Thus this short visit helped us to overcome the weakness in our relationship.

In India, love marriages are something unusual and he belonging to another religion had made it even more difficult for me.

After 5 years of long-distance courtship, we are now happily married and enjoying life to the fullest.
