The Wedding Tree

A great idea for a couple getting married in December is to have a "Wedding Tree" party.

First of all, find out some of the couples' (or the bride's!) taste in Christmas decorations.

Then plan a shower with a theme of "The Wedding Tree."

The centerpiece of the party would be an actual Christmas tree, real or artificial.

Guests bring either Christmas ornaments to hang on the tree or other gifts related to the holidays wrapped for placement under the tree.

Depending on the bride and groom, ornament gifts could range from...

A pink flamingo in a Santa hat to...

Chubby elves to Faberge-type eggs.

Wrappable gifts might include...

A comforter with a deer or moose design

Strings of lights in traditional colors or all white

Tree skirts, or...

A kit of spray snow and stencils.

Seasonal plants, whether alive or tastefully fake, also make good gifts--from Poinsettias to Roses to Christmas Cacti.

Colors and styles will depend on the bride's request, but a silver, blue and white party scheme could be pretty.

Snowflakes and cute snowpeople fit this scheme perfectly.

Refreshments would follow the shower scheme, which in this case could include...

Lacy snowflake cookies

Hot cocoa with marshmallows

Cupcakes with coconut sprinkled on white frosting, etc.

Mulled cider and hot coffee are also good bets for drinks, though...

They would not fit this color scheme exactly.
