Talk About Flowers!!!

Many years ago my husband was in charge of cargo for an airline that flew into Fairbanks, Alaska.
One year, the night before Thanksgiving, a shipment of
144 dozen short stem roses arrived at the shop, and...
Were to be picked up by a member of one of those groups that sold
flowers on street corners to raise money.
It was getting close to quitting time and no one had come to pick them up and calls to the number stated that it was no longer a working number.
My husband contacted the flower company in California and they said they were not interested in getting them back as they had already been paid for them.
The airline office said all they were interested in was getting the freight due on them so he should try to sell them .
A lot of the people working for the airline had already left shift, and the few that were there bought a dozen here and a dozen there, leaving about 120 dozen flowers left.
SO...My husband paid the freight on what was left and came to pick me up at work!
There was no way he could carry all the
flowers, but he filled his arms as best he could and walked into my office.
"Happy Thanksgiving," he said.
To say I was stunned doesn't begin to describe my feelings!
We gave flowers to the lady I worked for, and everyone else who was still in the other offices in the building.
We stopped at a home for the elderly and gave everyone, including the workers, flowers,
and...Went to the hospital and left
flowers for all the patients and staff, and I still had more than I could handle.
We were having a group of friends to our house for Thanksgiving dinner since we had the biggest dining room.
So...Everyone brought extra vases and empty jars and we filled every room of the house with flowers.
It was magnificent. He still brings me flowers for many, many occasions but he also still never lets me forget the day he gave me
120 DOZEN roses!
