Surprises
I have received
flowers as a total surprise a few times and that is a wonderful experience.
I still don't know who the first culprit was.
I was the director of a music program for teenagers and we had done quite a bit of performing.
Someone must have liked us because on
Mother's Day I received a gorgeous bouquet of
flowers with a card that indicated the sender thought of me as the mom of the music group!
I don't have any kids of my own, and I do feel like the kids I teach belong to me in a special way, so I enjoyed those
flowers and appreciated them.
They were beyond the ordinary
bouquet of carnations in a thick, inexpensive clear-glass vase. They were in a
beautiful blue glass vase that I still have.
I wish I knew who sent them so I could thank him or her.
Another time was after I had gotten some people together to play some music for a visitor.
We had gone over to a friend's house; she was having her sister and brother-in-law visit and she wanted some music to be played live.
It was a very nice evening because my friend is an excellent cook and both she and her sister are completely engaging and interesting people.
In fact, I didn't feel the need of any kind of thank you because playing music for me is fun and I had a great time.
The next day, there was a knock on the door and the
largest bouquet I have ever seen in my life.
It had an amazing array of
flowers of lots of different colors and yet it felt unified in appearance.
I don't particularly feel the need for my husband to get me
flowers, but when a bouquet shows up unannounced on my doorstep, it is a cause for celebration.
