Springtime Flowers to Open a Wintry Heart

If you’ve lived in places with a long, cold winter, then you know how it feels when spring finally, eventually, gradually shows its first signs.
You know that feeling of the warmth of sunshine on your face after months when the sun’s warmth couldn’t penetrate the cold air.
The things that make us smile the most then are
the first evidence of spring flowers... And the
first fragrant flowers of the year really get our attention.
After months of stuffy indoor air and keeping the windows closed, the earth gives us a sweetness that CANNOT be truly duplicated by human arts.
Maybe this is why fragrant spring flowers never fail to touch me in a flower gift.
The sweet scent of lilies of the valley
The tiny petals of springtime lilacs. They are with us so briefly, so ephemeral, and therefore so precious.
And if my heart has grown cold toward my love,
these flowers can also remind me of the warmth that can be there. But even after summer comes, beautiful sweet flowers abound....
Give me a bouquet of sweet-smelling freesia, and I’ll have sweet thoughts of you as long as they last, and longer. The delicate scent from a generous bouquet of stock can last for a long time,
and...There is something about these wild-looking flowers that captures my attention far more than the more usual choices of
roses or carnations.
They look as if they were picked in a meadow, not a flower shop.
If you must give me roses, then
full, lush tearoses floating in a bowl, rather than a bouquet of longstems.
They UNFOLD, petal by petal, revealing their sweet interior to us as we hope you will reveal yourselves to us.
