Rolling on the River

I can remember two special
first dates. One when I was in college.
I met Chris in line to register for classes. He was standing behind me and wearing a Coors Beer t-shirt.
I noticed a silver chain around his neck, and I reached for it and pulled in out from his shirt.
It had a cross on it.
We began talking about our relationship with God and then discovered we had also been in band in our respective high schools.
...In fact, we had been at state tournaments at the same time several times.
After we got through with registration, he asked me out to dinner. We went to a pizza parlor across from the campus. It was a quiet place and we had a wonderful time getting to know one another.
The second
first date was with the man who became my husband exactly a year later. We went with our Sunday school class on a tubing trip.
...Floating down the river, with the blue sky above us, and nature all around us was wonderful.
Even though we were with a group, we were able to hang back enough to spend time by ourselves talking and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
