Presents for my New Husband and In-Laws
by Nicola
(Nottingham, UK)
On my own wedding day, we told our guests not to bother about gifts but if they really wanted to, get us gift vouchers or donate to charity.
We had lived together for 10 years before so we were all kitted out.
As we had our wedding some 500 miles away from where most of our friends lived, the best present was them coming to the wedding and spending a weekend with us.
For my new husband, I got something he really cherishes now.
He currently has an adopted tiger at a sanctuary and often mentioned (joking) that he wished he was there on the day.
I got in touch with the sanctuary...
And...We came up with the idea that they would take a cast of his paw and send it to the venue with A CARD from his tiger saying he wished he could be there.
It may sound a little geeky but he really loved it!
The sanctuary enjoyed their charitable contribution (£50) from me in return.
For our new Parents-In-Law we decided on something different from the usual
bouquet of flowers as thank you gifts.
Instead...We got our DNA analyzed and presented an historical analysis of their DNA ancestry back to one of the
"7 Daughters of Eve" or
"World Clans".
It was a little pricey (£300 each) but they loved it as it was totally unique to them.
We didn't use a
guest registry on our day - we didn't need one but a friend of mine used a charitable gift registry, which was a fantastic idea.
