Picnic In Bed

by Deb
(O'Fallon, IL)

I wanted to surprise my husband one evening with a romantic setting in the privacy of our bedroom.

So I headed to Bed, Bath and Beyond, and believe it or not, I found a set of checkered sheets, looked just like a picnic tablecloth.

I then went to the local liquor store, and picked out a perfect wine.

Then off to the fruit stand for luscious grapes,& strawberries.

My final stop was to the local market for several different types of cheese and crackers.

I arrived home exactly one hour before he was expected in from work.

So I got to work.

First I stripped my bed, sprayed my mattress with my favorite Cologne, one I know he enjoys as well.

Then I made the bed with only the fitted checkered sheet.

I then found an old picnic basket someone had given us years ago for a wedding present, and sad to say we had never used.

I put the basket on the bed, mind you I laid it on it side so the lid would serve as a serving table.

I then cleaned my fresh fruit, arranged it in the center of a platter with the cheese and crackers running along the outer edge of the platter.

I then placed the ice bucket which had been chilling the wine along side the platter, with two very pretty wine glasses both entwined with red ribbon.

I then put on a sexy little outfit he had never seen before, spray on more cologne, turn the lights off in the whole house, lit candles all over the bedroom, and waited.

I have to say the look on his face was priceless!!

We had a wonderful dinner of cheese, crackers, fresh fruit and wine.

The setting was very romantic, and made for a wonderful memory.
