Honeymooning in the Blueridge Mountains

A Winter Wonderland
We married in February and wanted
a winter honeymoon. So we chose
The Peaks of Otter Lodge in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia.
It was so beautiful, and quiet.
The Peaks of Otter Lodge have off-season rates so that made that more appealing to us.
The winter package included breakfast, and dinner (you were on your own for lunches).
The rooms have no radio, no phones, very rustic and romantic.
The lodge was open in the evening where you could sit in front of the huge fireplace and enjoy playing games such as chess or checkers.
It fit our personalities completely.Nestled in the Blue Ridge, the Peaks of Otter offers so many outdoor opportunities.
We spent the days hiking in the snow covered mountains, enjoying spectacular views of the snowcovered vallys and distant mountain ranges.
In the evenings we would sit on our room balcony, sipping hot cocoa with whip cream remembering the day. From our room we had a view of the lake and could hear the sounds of nature and watch the deer and other wildlife.
The Peaks of Otter is located off of the Blue Ridge Highway, which offers miles of scenic and breathtaking views...
...From numerous roadside pull-offs some with picnic tables and grills.
It was the most romantic time of my life. So...
If you are looking for something different from the norm of ocean beaches, I recommend the Blue Ridge Mountains for
your honeymoon.
