Give The Couple Their Honeymoon - Well Sort of...

When a good friend got married, I gave her the place she and her husband honeymooned.
Well...As close as I could get.
I got a frame and matte that held three 8 by 10s, and filled it with representations of
the honeymoon site.
One was a current, normal map (political map) of the area in the Caribbean .
To either side, I put in satellite photos that showed the area in the year the couple got married, and the year that they were born.
These aerial and satellite photos are really cool,
because you can see how the coastline changes over time,
and how development moves into the area.Also...Especially if the place you’re considering has different types of terrain
(like jungle meets beach meets water), the photos themselves can be quite beautiful.
You can get the satellite photos through the
U.S. Geologic Survey’s website, and they’re very inexpensive.
Depending on where the couple’s going, check to see if the location is featured in the
“Earth As Art” gallery, which has some truly stunning shots.
This whole thing started for me because I was close to the bride, but WANTED to get something the groom would appreciate, too.
I knew he liked maps, and this made a great solution.
He enjoyed it for the map factor.
But...It’s pretty enough that she’s happy to have something that is basically a work of art to display in their home.
