I know that most men think that they need to plan the perfect proposal.

They agonize over how to have a perfect evening and surprise their girl with some thoughtfully original and romantic proposal.

I think this is ridiculous.

Of course a woman is going to say yes when she is intoxicated by the romance of such a theatrical production. But...

Is this any indication of how things are going to go for the two of you?

Not really.

So I think that the only appropriate time to propose is in the midst of a knock-down drag-out fight.

If you ask a woman to marry you just as she's about to drive a kitchen fork into your skull, and she still says yes...then maybe, just maybe you have a shot at happily ever after.
