Cruise Wedding Getaways

Where did we elope to?
That is an easy question to answer.
We eloped to a cruise ship.
The reasons are many.
The main reason was funding.
At first we planned a small wedding.
Then we realized if you invite a person to the wedding then they are going to bring a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, or friend. So,
We had to double the number of people we were expecting at our small wedding.
Then family considerations came into play. My dear future mother-in-law had a guest list she wanted invited.
Oh that's not all.
Being a mixed religion-couple, we had to find a neutral place for the actual wedding to take place. So,
We now have a list of people we have never seen to invite and a yet to be determined place to get married.
Oh wait...
We need to have a reception. So now we need to find a location to have the reception.
Still not done yet.
We needed music, food and table decorations.
At this point we are pretty stressed out and occasionally fighting.
We are planning the happiest moment of our young lives and it is causing stress and problems.
We got lowball estimates for all we needed.
When we combined all the cost of everything needed for a small wedding, we realized the all-inclusive Caribbean honeymoon was canceled and replaced with the reclusive stay in the apartment honeymoon.
Then my future wife said something that changed everything..."This wedding is costing many times more than my friend's recent cruise."
There was a pause after she said that and we just looked at each other for what felt like a long time.
The next thing we both said simultaneously was "what about a cruise wedding?"
In December we booked a June cruise for our wedding.
That was all we needed to do, one simple phone call.
We invited our closest friends to join us and really did have the small wedding we wanted all along.
Twenty years later, we cruise regularly with our kids.
Smartest thing we ever did.
