A Wedding Tradition

Tradition is Romantic
When I married my husband, my mother's best friend sent me a lovely
Waterford crystal bud vase. She gave not only the vase itself but a heartfelt sentiment which accompanied the gift.
She told me that she had received a similar vase for her wedding, and that each anniversary, she placed it, empty, but filled with water, on a table in their home.
Her husband then would find
The Perfect Rose and place it in the vase.
The woman, she explained, was the vessel, and with the water, the nuturer. The husband, of course, the giver and the provider of life and growth.
She lovingly suggested that we follow her tradition.
Surely, my husband and I have joined in this touching display of tradition and affection.
The most heartfelt expression came last year when my husband was able to fill the vase with
a rose from our very own garden in our new home.
Romance is all about TOUCHING the heart and creating memories. This may be a tradition you want to start for someone you love.
