A Personalized Picnic Basket

When I married my husband, I experienced his family's tradition of giving picnic baskets as a wedding present.
I thought the gift to be delightful and have continued to use the idea whenever
a wedding invitation alights in my mailbox.
I've been fortunate to live in an area where woodworking and other old-time techniques still survive and thus been able to pick from a number of lovely, hand-crafted baskets.
Look for a sturdy, well-made basket that will stand the test of time and last for the entire marriage.
The next thing to do is to
find items which reflect the taste of the bride and groom and fill the basket with them.
This is the fun part.
You can choose a special variety of wine, wineglasses and assorted cheese and crackers.
Alternatively, you can find heavy duty plastic dishes (and matching plastic silverware) and add them to the basket along with a useful tablecloth/blanket for dining.
You can also go completely upscale with extremely fancy items.
The sky's the limit.
The REALLY nice thing is that these baskets don't have to be wrapped.
Simply attach a fancy white bow and you're done.
