A Great Proposal

My husband--then boyfriend-- asked me to meet him for coffee around 8:30 pm, when he got off work.
The place he chose was one of our favorite little restaurants, a locally owned place that served a small menu of terrific food, drinks, and coffee.
It was a small, dark, intimate little cafe in the basement of a very old building.
He arrived there before me and, unbeknownst to me, told the waitress what he was about to do and enlisted her help.
When I arrived, he and I sat down at a little table for two and enjoyed the romantic atmosphere of the candles on the table and the guitar player singing a folk song in the corner.
We ordered coffee and talked about our day.
After awhile, he stated that he was in the mood for a dessert and asked if I would like to share something.
Our waitress came over and took our order for a slice of lemon poppyseed cake with two forks.
Several minutes later, she arrived back at our table and set the cake down in front of my sweetheart and proceeded to set another plate down in front of me.
I started to object that I hadn't ordered anything, when I looked at the plate and saw a small wrapped box in the center of it,
... With chocolate sauce drizzled around the edge of the plate and raspberries sprinkled around.
I knew right away what was going on.
My boyfriend told me to go ahead and open the box.
I did, and inside was my lovely engagement ring.
He took the ring from me, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
... Of course, I said YES and we stood up and kissed as the whole restaurant cheered.
A proposal I will never forget!!!
