As for Kodaikanal - well, it's a hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu, that was mostly explored and developed by the British when they were in India.
Once upon a time, it had dense jungles. Now there is a sizeable crowd coming into Kodai during the summers - that means fewer jungles and more houses, hotels etc.
But, I still think it looks absolutely beautiful. Some of the trees are so huge (I have a weakness for trees that are really huge!!)and the weather is lovely, the scenery is breathtaking.
If you can work up the courage, there are a few lovely trails that lead into the jungle. The only thing missing is privacy - too many people, I felt. Still, it's in India, and it is affordable!!
Munnar is in Kerala (my state) and it is jam-packed with Tea estates. It's just opening up to tourists now, so there is still a lot of unspoiled 'natural' treats.
...Lots of waterfalls - actually, u'd think the boulders are just waiting for an excuse to spout water!! And the tea estates also look v v pretty - rolling hills, one after another with Silver Oaks and other lush trees growing in between. It's a treat for out city-saturated eyes.
I do hope u come to India - it's worth a trip.
